Three Week Class - Session #1

  • Zen Desert Sangha (map)

Led by ZDS Resident Teacher Dan Dorsey, this three-week class on April 19, 26 & May 3 will explore Sangha – One of the Three Treasures in Zen.

In the first class we will trace how the original Sangha formed around the Buddha and study the challenges and opportunities it presented in India.

The second class will trace the evolution of the Sangha as it spread northward into China, Japan, and Korea, and then to the West.

The third class will open a discussion about our own Sangha as it relates to other Sanghas in the United States, and also a discussion of our own current state of Sangha relations, and what we can do to make them better now, as well as plan for the future of Zen Desert Sangha.

Each session will include a talk, Q&A, and discussion. Participants are requested to attend all three sessions if possible. $5 dana per class requested, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

No advance notice is necessary -- just come and learn.
