Here we see Shelly and Dan after the outdoor tables have been set up in the ZDS zendo back yard for the Gala later that evening. Linda Failmezger and Toni Docken have done a beautiful job. And you've got to love the Tucson climate: shirt-sleeve weather, of course; and, see the overhanging greenery of the mesquite tree, and the citrus foliage, ...in mid-November!

Some outdoor tables for the Gala in the back yard court yard, near where the band will perform (the many grapefruits seen on the citrus trees are coming ripe for harvesting in December and January).

"Cleaning" is very much Zen work. Here we see Board Member Doug Wellington at work on sprucing up the zendo windows, inside and out, on the afternoon of the Gala.

Pamela, Ingrid, and Tom arriving, as ZDS President Bob Wallin greets them and takes tickets, while Linda Failmezger looks on.

President Bob Wallin, and past-President Greg Anderson settle-in to do the greeting and ticket-taking at the Reception table outside the zendo. They toast each other with hot tea (or warmed Sake?) under the stars, while a giant migrating Monarch butterfly looks for the fly-way to Central America.

ZDS owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to Toni Docken, who prepared the wonderful Gala meal of Japanese vegetarian foods. Wow! Thank you, Toni. Here we see Pamela, Ingrid, and Tom enjoying the dinner in the Fireplace Room.

"Courteous, Efficient, Self-Service": a view into the Fireplace Room from the foyer, affording also a long view into the zendo. Here we see guests in the dinner buffet line, serving themselves the wonderful Gala dinner Toni has prepared. From the table backwards, we recognize Doug, Norman, Bonnie-Gaia, Pamela, Evelie Sabatie (a Tucson Yoga teacher and Sanskritist), Carol Neese, and Christina.

ZDS President Bob Wallin, introducing the band "Water On The Rocks", before the band began its first set. They performed Standards, Jazz tunes, and Latin tunes. A very versatile and tight band of five members, headed by Hoshin Gupta, guitarist. That's Scott on electric bass, and Sally on percussion. On the other hand, maybe Bob is belting out the lyrics of a Zen rap tune?

The band outdoes themselves with their final tune -- and finale! -- of the night, a rousing rendition of the favorite "Oye, Como Va?", of Carlos Santana. That's Hoshin in the center, on guitar, and Sally at left, on percussion and vocals. Thanks, Water On The Rocks! We love you... .
